IGNOU, the Indira Gandhi National Open University, has introduced a significant change to its convocation process. Going forward, students who complete their courses will receive both physical certificates and digital degrees. The university has made this decision in recognition of the tremendous advancements in technology, and the benefits that digital degrees can offer both students and the institution. IGNOU is now equipped to issue blockchain-based or digital degrees, which will provide advantages to both parties.
IGNOU Digital Degree
Do you recall the time when IGNOU students eagerly awaited their certificates upon course completion? Previously, physical certificates were sent via mail to students who could not attend the convocation ceremony. However, the implementation of a blockchain-based system has led to an upgrade in the process. Instead of sending certificates through mail, IGNOU has now made it possible for students to download their degrees and certificates directly from the IGNOU portal. Therefore, regardless of whether or not a student attended the convocation ceremony, they can now access and download their certificate from the IGNOU portal.
Eligibility: Who can Download a Digital Degree?
On April 3rd, 2023, IGNOU held its 36th convocation ceremony, which was graced by the presence of Droupadi Muurmu, the current President of India. At the event, approximately 279,918 certificates, degrees, and diplomas were distributed to deserving students. The President personally presented gold medals to students who had performed exceptionally well in their exams.
The convocation ceremony was specifically held for students who completed their programs and courses between December 2021 and June 2022. These students not only qualified to attend the convocation ceremony but are also now eligible to download their certificates and degrees digitally from IGNOU’s Samarth portal.
How To Download IGNOU Digital Degree?
Students who have attended the 36th convocation ceremony of IGNOU or not are now eligible to download their digital degrees from the Samarth portal of IGNOU. Here is a complete process you can download IGNOU Digital Degree.
Step – 1 – First, you will have to visit the IGNOU official portal for digital degrees at https://ignou.samarth.edu.in.
Step – 2 – Click on New Registration available at the bottom of the page
Step – 3 – Select your programme, then enter your name and enrolment
Step – 4 – Type the given captcha and submit the credentials
Step – 5 – Next, submit the OTP that you must have received on the email that you have registered with IGNOU
Step – 6 – Now create your password for login
Step – 7 – After you have created your password, once again go to the portal ignou.samarth.edu.in.
Step – 8 – Here put your enrolment as your username and then your password
Step – 9 – Also, type the provided captcha to login
Step – 10 – After you have entered the portal, click on the given option of my Certificates
Step – 11 – Next, select the option All Certificates
Step – 12 – Download the certificate that you wish to get
Step – 13 – Open the PDF format of the downloaded certificate to save it
