Indian Railways is set to hire 5696 Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs) through a computer-based test (CBT) and subsequent interviews. The recruitment process will be conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs).
To apply, candidates must be between 18 and 30 years old as of July 1, 2024. They must have a matriculation or SSLC certificate and have completed an ITI course in a trade related to mechanical or electrical engineering from an institute recognized by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT). Alternatively, they must have completed a three-year diploma in mechanical, electrical, electronics, or automobile engineering from a recognized institution.
The CBT will be held in two stages. The first stage will be a preliminary exam, which will be objective and consist of questions on general intelligence, reasoning, and basic aptitude. The second stage will be a main exam, which will be objective and consist of questions on technical subjects related to the post of ALP.
Candidates who pass the CBT will be called for an interview. The interview will be conducted by a panel of railway officers.
The pay scale for ALPs is Level-2 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with an initial pay of Rs 19,900 per month.
The application process for the ALP recruitment will begin on January 20, 2024 and close on February 19, 2024. Applications must be submitted online through the websites of the RRBs.
